Wormwood Flower Roll

Ingredients

  • 1000 grams of flour
  • A suitable amount of oil
  • A suitable amount of salt
  • A suitable amount of yeast
  • A suitable amount of mugwort (Artemisia argyi)

Preparation Method

  1. Clean the mugwort and boil it in water.
  2. Pour the boiled mugwort into the flour, add yeast, and knead into a smooth dough. Let it rise until it doubles in size.
  3. Roll the dough into a thin sheet, brush a thin layer of oil on it, sprinkle a little salt, roll it up, then gently press it flat with your hands and cut it into inch-long pieces.
  4. Stack two pieces together, press down in the middle with a chopstick, twist each end in opposite directions, and tuck the twisted ends underneath to form a flower roll.
  5. Let it rest for 15 minutes, then place it in a steamer. Start with high heat until the water boils, steam for 15 minutes, turn off the heat, let it sit for 5 more minutes with the lid on, then remove from the steamer.
