Ingredients of moxa leaf and donkey hide gelatin porridge

Ingredients

  • E’jiao (Donkey-hide gelatin): 20 grams
  • Dried mugwort: 10 grams
  • Millet: 100 grams

Preparation Method

  1. Boil the dried mugwort in 3 bowls of water for 20 minutes, then strain to obtain the decoction.
  2. Cook the millet in water until it is about 80% done. Crush the E’jiao into small pieces, and add it along with the mugwort decoction to the millet porridge. Continue cooking until the E’jiao completely dissolves (stirring constantly). You can add an appropriate amount of brown sugar to taste.

Health Benefits

  • Mugwort warms the meridians, stops bleeding, and alleviates cold-induced pain, making it suitable for managing dysmenorrhea (painful menstruation) and cold pain in the lower abdomen. As a hemostatic agent, mugwort can shorten bleeding and coagulation time. Consuming mugwort juice can help with excessive menstrual flow or extended periods.
  • E’jiao contains collagen, which helps in blood clotting, thus it has hemostatic properties. It also aids in accelerating the growth of cells and hemoglobin, contributing to blood nourishment.
  • Mugwort and E’jiao porridge is suitable for dietary therapy of dysmenorrhea, cold pain in the lower abdomen, dysfunctional uterine bleeding, and blood deficiency, especially for those with a blood deficiency and a cold-weak constitution.
